LEWIS is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our Antwerp office. This office is already well established and has the opportunity to evolve and grow further under a visionary leader. Its development is pivotal in the evolution of our Benelux operation. The role has commercial responsibility and is part of the EMEA management team. It reports into the Senior Vice President, Western Europe. Some travel in Europe will be required and there will be occasional travel globally.

Purpose of the role

The role will work closely with the SVP, Western Europe and the EMEA senior management team to drive the EMEA strategic business plan. The General Manager’s responsibility is the vision for, and development of, the Antwerp office. The General Manager will be charged with office culture and people development, client service, new business and marketing activity, office growth and profitability.

Responsibilities include to:

  • Recommend and drive the business plan for the Antwerp office, including recommending commercial targets
  • Manage the office commercials and be responsible for the operational aspects
  • Build (and retain) a high calibre and motivated team – inspire an energetic office culture
  • Drive new business activity, recommending prospects to target and leading credentials and pitches
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, providing added-value strategic consultancy and initiatives for retention and organic growth
  • Ensure the delivery of excellent, consistent service and results to clients
  • Support the continued rapid growth of LEWIS digital marketing practice service offering
  • Promote and drive the integration of PR and digital
  • Champion the cascading of Belgium clients across the global network
  • Present the strategic face of the agency to external audiences through speaker opportunities, interviews with the media etc
  • Overall, be a collaborative, encouraging and supportive member of the EMEA management team.

About you

Highly commercial and with long-term strategic vision, you have experience of running and growing a PR office, practice or division. Your business network is strong and you have an impressive track record of winning and developing major accounts as well as of retention and organic growth of existing clients. Considered, assertive and influential, you are an outstanding leader with the skills and aptitude to structure, develop and motivate a team, top to bottom. You have rounded communications experience across PR and strategic consultancy, and a keen understanding of how to manage digital campaigns (social media, content, paid media, creative). Your domain experience may help broaden the LEWIS offer in EMEA. B2B tech sector experience is required. Experience of working in a fast paced, energetic and international environment is essential.

  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of consistently making good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience and judgment
  • High level of business acumen, including successful commercial management
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends and potential pitfalls
  • Excel at managing and leading bright and ambitious people; a collaborative team builder who is able to instil accountability and empower people to succeed
  • Thorough knowledge of finance, operational/information systems, people management
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to problem solve, project manage and multi-task. Will take charge of a situation and act, taking unpopular stands when necessary
  • Undergraduate degree or higher
  • Integrity, humility, self-drive/initiative – and a sense of humor!
