Senior Vice President

LEWIS is seeking an experienced Senior Vice President, specializing in consumer brand, to lead our recently opened New York office. This is a new position and it is pivotal in the evolution of our US operation. The role has P&L responsibility and is part of the US senior management team. It reports into the Executive Vice President, US. Some travel in the US region will be required and there will be occasional travel globally.

Purpose of the role

The role will work closely with the EVP, US and the US senior management team to drive the US strategic business plan. The SVP’s responsibility is the vision for, and development of, the New York office. The SVP will be charged with office culture and people development, new business and marketing activity, client service, office growth and profitability.

Responsibilities include to:

  • Recommend and drive the vision and business plan for the NYC office, including setting commercial targets
  • Build (and retain) a high calibre and motivated team – inspire and nurture an excellent office culture
  • Drive new business activity: identify and engage targets/prospects, lead credentials and pitches
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, providing added-value strategic consultancy and initiatives for retention and organic growth
  • Ensure the delivery of excellent, consistent service and results to clients
  • Support the continued rapid growth of LEWIS Pulse (digital marketing practice) in the US
  • Support the roll-out of Marketing Services (HQ is Boston) in the US
  • Promote and drive the integration of PR and digital
  • Champion the cascading of US clients across the global network
  • Present the strategic face of the agency to external audiences through speaker opportunities, interviews with the media etc
  • Overall, be a collaborative, encouraging and supportive member of the US senior management team. 

About you

Highly commercial and with long-term strategic vision, you have experience of building and running a PR or digital office, large practice or division. Your business network is strong and you have an impressive track record of winning and developing major blue-chip accounts as well as of retention and organic growth of existing clients. You are an outstanding leader with the skills and aptitude to structure, develop and motivate a strong team, top to bottom. You have rounded communications experience across PR, digital marketing and strategic communications. Your domain experience in consumer brand will help broaden the LEWIS offer in the US. Considered, assertive and influential, you are a credible senior leader.  Experience of working in a fast paced and international environment is essential.

  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of consistently making good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience and judgment
  • High level of business acumen, including successful P&L management
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends and potential pitfalls
  • Excel at managing and leading bright and ambitious people; a collaborative team builder who is able to instil accountability and empower people to succeed
  • Thorough knowledge of finance, operational/information systems, HR
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to problem solve, project manage and multi-task. Will take charge of a situation and act, taking unpopular stands when necessary
  • Undergraduate (Bachelors) degree or higher
  • Integrity, humility, self-drive/initiative – and a sense of humor!

Remuneration and benefits

  • Basic salary dependent on experience
