Welcome back to this week’s TEAM LEWIS Social Round-Up.
You know the old question. If a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound? Well here’s the social media version. If a platform update happens and it’s not in this round-up… is it even a social update?
Well here are this week’s hypothetical trees. Instagram might finally be letting links sneak into captions, LinkedIn is sharing tips on how to get your content cited by AI chatbots, and YouTube has quietly become the biggest media company on the planet. Meanwhile TikTok is teaming up with Apple Music to turn discovery into full listening, and it turns out posting links on LinkedIn won’t tank your reach after all.
Let’s dive in 👇

🔗 Instagram tests links in post captions for Meta Verified users
Instagram is testing a long-requested feature that allows some Meta Verified subscribers to add links directly into post captions. The test is currently limited to creators who pay for Meta Verified, and even then there’s a cap of around 10 links per month.
Instagram has historically resisted this feature because it worried links would shift the platform away from visuals and toward publishers and news content. But as Meta continues to look for new revenue streams, particularly to fund its growing AI investments, it seems it’s becoming a little more flexible. If this rolls out more widely, it could open up new sponsorship opportunities for creators and become a pretty compelling reason to sign up for Meta Verified. 👉 Read More
📉 Instagram, LinkedIn and Threads engagement dipped in 2025
A new report from Buffer analysed engagement across more than 190,000 users and tens of millions of posts, and the results show that engagement on Instagram, LinkedIn and Threads declined slightly throughout 2025. Facebook, Pinterest and TikTok held fairly steady, while X saw a small bump in engagement.
Before anyone panics, the shifts are relatively minor and likely tied to increased competition as more people post content on these platforms. The more useful insight is this: replying to comments dramatically increases engagement. According to the report, creators who respond to replies see engagement rise by as much as 42% on Threads and 30% on LinkedIn. Turns out being social on social media still works. 👉 Read More
🤖 LinkedIn shares tips on getting mentioned in AI answers
LinkedIn has published a new guide explaining how users can optimise their content so it appears in responses generated by AI chatbots. According to LinkedIn, the key is depth and expertise rather than opinion-based updates.
Long-form content performs best. Posts, articles and newsletters between 800 and 1,200 words account for roughly 60% of AI citations referencing LinkedIn content. The platform also recommends using clear structure, actionable advice and the classic journalistic “inverted pyramid” style, where the most important information appears first. In other words, thoughtful content is now good for both humans and robots. 👉 Read More
🔗 LinkedIn confirms links won’t hurt your reach
LinkedIn has clarified that some of the most common posting myths simply aren’t true. According to the platform, posts with links, hashtags or frequent publishing schedules are not automatically downranked by the algorithm.
LinkedIn says the feed rewards value rather than tactics, meaning what matters most is whether people actually engage with your content. So if you’ve been avoiding posting links out of fear the algorithm might punish you, relax. The bigger question is whether the content you’re sharing is interesting enough to click in the first place. 👉 Read More
🎵 TikTok and Apple Music launch “Play Full Song”
TikTok and Apple Music are rolling out a new feature called Play Full Song, allowing users to move directly from discovering a track on TikTok to listening to the full version inside Apple Music.
The integration makes the journey from discovery to listening almost seamless. Users can tap the button, play the full song and add it straight into their Apple Music library or playlists. TikTok has always been one of the biggest drivers of music discovery, and this update makes it easier to turn those viral moments into actual streams and fan engagement. 👉 Read More
📺 YouTube becomes the world’s largest media company
YouTube generated more than $60 billion in revenue in 2025, which means it has officially overtaken Disney’s media business to become the world’s largest media company.
Between advertising, subscriptions and its massive creator ecosystem, YouTube now sits at the intersection of technology and entertainment. The platform has already paid out more than $100 billion to creators and partners, and with AI tools making content production even easier, the creator economy around YouTube shows no signs of slowing down. 👉 Read More
