It can be hard to stand out in the market with the deluge of content being produced every single day. Meanwhile, it can be equally hard for your audience if you get into a rut with the same old, same old content. No one wants to consume a piece of stale content, after all. So, what’s the easiest way you can spice up your content offerings and add some needed flair, flavor and festivity to it? Why a seasonal content marketing approach of course!

Spicing Up Your Content with Seasonal Activations

Seasonal content marketing is all about creating content that ties into a theme around a particular season or event. This helps brands take advantage of timeliness and capitalize on a well-known happening by putting their own spin on it. In fact, there are two major components of seasonal content that brands should always keep in mind:

  1. Time-based marketing: This could refer to our four cyclical seasons (winter, spring, summer, fall), or unofficial, but popular categorizations of these seasons (i.e. cuffing season in winter or spring cleaning).
  2. Event-based marketing: This involves jumping into the conversation around widely-celebrated holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, etc.) or major cultural events (The Oscars, Super Bowl, Olympics, etc.).

Of course, not all trends can be predicted. Savvy content marketers with an eye toward all the latest and breaking viral trends and happenings should absolutely jump on the bandwagon if it’s appropriate for their brand. If you’re quick on your feet, creating content that ties into these unpredictable trends can result in a tremendous impact on brand awareness and perception.

Seasonal activations are a great way to insert your brand into the zeitgeist and capture the spirit and attention of people who are already aware of and invested in these events. But how do you create content that taps into this mindset, stands out from the pack and shines a spotlight on your business? Well, luckily, we made a podcast for that!

In the inaugural episode of LEWIS’ latest monthly podcast, “Confessions of a Content Creator,” our team of content extraordinaires breaks down how to use seasonally themed content to capitalize on buyer mania and offers their four top strategies for launching a successful seasonal content marketing campaign.
