White House press secretary Sarah Sanders opened yesterday’s press briefing room to the children of reporters and brought two of her own kids into work. And, in a similar vein, LEWIS’ San Francisco office was also filled with kids, ranging from one to 11 years-old. That’s because on the fourth Thursday of each April, more than 40 million Americans at over 3.5 million workplaces participate in “Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.” To celebrate, we invited a few special guests, our LEWIS children, to our San Francisco headquarters to learn about what it takes to be part of Team LEWIS.

We kicked the day off sharing our core values:LEWIS valuesWe are BOLD – we are unafraid to challenge orthodox approaches and we embrace new ideas. We take responsibility for our actions and their results and pride ourselves on doing a great job.
We are INQUISITIVE – we are curious for knowledge and always look for ways to be innovative. We strive to learn and develop professionally and encourage others to do so.

We are SPIRITED – we are positive and optimistic about challenges. We care about the success of the company, our colleagues and community. We have a sense of humor and know how to have fun.

We are AGILE – we are responsive, flexible and comfortable thinking on our feet. We always aim for simplicity and clarity without losing focus on the bigger picture. We seek out and seize opportunities.

We are COLLABORATIVE – we are supportive and treat people with respect. We build partnerships through our open communication and receptiveness. We act with integrity, honesty and sincerity. We are one team.LEWIS valuesThroughout the day, we hosted educational sessions aligned with LEWIS values.

For BOLD, the children participated in a design challenge where they created collages that reflected boldness.Mother and son drawingFor AGILE, they did morning stretch exercises to get moving.Kids playingFor SPIRITED, we orchestrated a fun photoshoot. For INQUISITIVE, there was an interactive Q&A where the kids expressed “What they want to do when they grow up” and we had a fun trivia game.LEWIS kidsLEWIS kidsLEWIS kidsLEWIS kidsLEWIS kidsFinally, for COLLABORATIVE, they created purple, glitter slime together and enjoyed an animated movie.LEWIS kidsLEWIS kidsLEWIS kidsAt LEWIS San Francisco, we value work/life balance for our employees. It’s important to celebrate the achievements of our working parents and inspire their young children to more deeply understand what mommy and daddy do all day. And, who knows, maybe one of them will be motivated to one day work in PR, social media, marketing or advertising.

At the end of the day, we were proud to name each child an honorary Team LEWISer!LEWIS kidsA big shout out to all the Team LEWIS parents, employees who hosted sessions and kids for participating! And a special thank you to Bixbee for sponsoring our first annual Bring Your Kids to Work Day!

Bixbee is a designer backpack and accessory brand with a “One Here, One There” mission. With every schoolbag purchase, Bixbee donates a schoolbag with supplies to a kid in need.
