About this role

As part of our growth strategy, LEWIS is seeking an exceptional Vice President to support in the continued growth and development of our digital marketing practice across the US, with a focus on our West Coast offices (currently San Diego and San Francisco.) This VP will focus on integrated accounts, providing large, multi-national technology clients with insight-driven digital communications strategy, while identifying opportunities to provide the full spectrum of support that LEWIS has to offer. This role will involve the leadership and development of teams of digital and communications specialists. While rooted in strong expertise in social media, knowledge of the digital marketing mix, including SEO, SEM, display advertising, analytics, and creative, will contribute to success in this role.

Some travel in the US region will be required, with the occasional opportunity for global travel.

Purpose of the role

The overall purpose of the role is to build and maintain strategic client relationships, profitability, leadership, new business and employee development across the West Coast offices, currently San Diego and San Francisco. This includes driving organic growth with existing LEWIS clients, supporting new business growth, and ensuring the integration of LEWIS services from multiple offices in the US region.  A key component of this role is the ability to win, lead, retain and grow major accounts by bringing greater creative and digital insights to client pitches, proposals and programs.

About you

You are business minded with a long-term strategic vision. You have experience leading digital and fully integrated teams within an agency, region, practice or division. Your business network is strong and you have an impressive track record of winning and developing multi-national accounts as well as of retention and organic growth of existing clients. You are an outstanding leader, with the ability and passion to structure, develop and motivate a strong team. You are comfortable working with large, top-tier brands and presenting to C-suite executives, as well as providing ongoing strategic guidance to clients.

You have a breadth of experience in digital marketing. Experience in communications, content marketing, and data-driven storytelling is also a plus. You have experience in managing budgets, P&Ls, staffing and resources. With a strong entrepreneurial spirit, you understand how to best apply this spirit to a growing global organization. Key responsibilities and tasks

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with top-tier clients, provide added-value strategic digital consultancy and initiatives for retention and organic growth
  • Lead and motivate an ambitious team of digital communications professionals across all levels
  • Ensure the delivery of excellent client service and satisfaction as well as the delivery of consistent standards of excellence across some of LEWIS’ largest accounts, some in excess of $1mil retainer.
  • Work with the digital leadership team to ensure account profitability and revenue optimization to achieve the agreed commercial targets, acting where necessary to address issues e.g. over-servicing
  • Support the SVP, Strategic Integrated Accounts in the development of strategies aimed at driving development and growth for Digital across major accounts, predominately across the west coast offices. This includes supporting the SVP to set targets for the financial year and ensuring that the team is aware of the plan.
  • Support the new business process: help set the strategy; act on leads generated and turn them into tangible opportunities; evaluate the quality and success of lead generation and pitching, taking action where improvement is needed
  • Work with the digital leadership team to ensure account profitability and revenue optimization to achieve the agreed commercial targets, taking action where necessary to address issues e.g. over-servicing
  • Support operational effectiveness of scopes of work, contracts, project scoping, assignment of resources and account allocation
  • Together with the SVP, Strategic Integrated Accounts, lead the implementation of resourcing and capacity plans to ensure resources are appropriately matched with the size of the retainer/project
  • Address reasons for client dissatisfaction and/or churn without delay, and put in place proactive steps to improve on the relationship with LEWIS
  • Support the SVP, Strategic Integrated Accounts, in ensuring that financial and operating processes and procedures are followed and properly executed across all the offices
  • Work closely with HR and recruiting team members in attracting new talent to LEWIS; active participant in candidate interviews and projects
  • Act as a respected leader and line manager, working closely with line reports to maximize strengths, improve weaknesses and support career development, ensuring that appraisals are completed
  • Share thought leadership and conduct agency training sessions to drive innovation and support the development of team members across functions


Additional requirements

  • Experience managing digital and social media efforts for B2B technology organization is an absolute plus
  • Experience working in an advertising or communications agency, with tier one brands and providing C-level executives with strategic digital consultancy
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and driving revenue growth; evidence of consistently making good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience and judgment
  • Experience integrating digital marketing capabilities with public relations, content and broader marketing activities
  • High level of business acumen, including successful budget and resource management
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends and potential pitfalls
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to problem solve, project manage and multi-task. Will take charge of a situation and act, taking unpopular stands when necessary
