Vice President

LEWIS is seeking an experienced Vice President to lead our new office in Atlanta. This is a new position and it is pivotal in the evolution of our US operation. The role has commercial responsibility and is part of the US senior management team. It reports into the Executive Vice President, Corporate Development. Travel in the US region will be required and there will be occasional travel globally.

The company is an integrated communications agency that has gone from start-up to multi-national in a little over two decades. The company now rank in the top 40 agencies worldwide with 29 offices, 550 employees and revenue of $64m. Its success is due to a combination of factors: talented people delivering award winning campaigns; expanding client relationships into new markets or services; making strategic acquisitions. Purpose of the role

The role will work closely with the EVP CD and the US senior management team to drive the US strategic business plan. The VP’s responsibility is the vision for, and development of, the Atlanta office. The VP will be charged with office culture and people development, new business and marketing activity, client service, office growth and profitability. The role will help with sector diversification.

Key responsibilities

  • Recommend and drive the vision and business plan for the Atlanta office, including recommending commercial targets
  • Help drive and deliver the vision for sector diversification in the region
  • Recruit, build, retain a high calibre motivated team – inspire and nurture an excellent office culture
  • Drive new business activity: identify and engage prospects, lead credentials/RFIs and pitches
  • Develop strong relationships with clients, providing added-value strategic consultancy and initiatives for retention and organic growth
  • Ensure the delivery of excellent strategic communications, quality service and results to clients
  • Promote and drive the integration of digital and PR
  • Champion the cascading of US clients across the global network
  • Lend advice/guidance on launching new practice areas, services and products, taking the lead on specific launches as required
  • Run regional and office training sessions in PR and/or digital marketing
  • Present the strategic face of the agency to external audiences through speaker opportunities, interviews with the media, etc
  • Be an ambassador for LEWIS: viewed as a key and networked communications leader
  • Overall, be a collaborative, encouraging, supportive member of the US senior management team. 

About you

This is an opportunity to open and build a new office based on your experience of building and running an integrated, digital or PR practice, division or large team. With a strong business network in your local market, you have an impressive track record of winning and developing major blue-chip accounts as well as of retention and organic growth of existing clients. Assertive and influential, you are a credible senior leader with the skills and aptitude to structure, develop and motivate a strong team, top to bottom; and you are able to forge strong relationships with eclectic senior stakeholders. You have rounded communications experience across integrated marketing, digital marketing, PR and strategic communications. Some experience of/interest in b2b tech is required but your domain experience will help broaden the LEWIS offer in the US. In particular, we are looking for leaders with skills in a diverse set of vertical practice areas – CPG, energy, financial services, automotive, travel and hospitality, and biotech – to further expand our reach into these verticals. Experience of working in a fast paced and international environment is essential.

Additional requirements

  • In-depth integrated/digital/PR comms experience; agency experience a must
  • Experience in conceiving and managing B2C and B2B campaigns
  • Experience integrating digital marketing and PR, content and broader marketing activities
  • Connected within the Atlanta comms and business community
  • Proven track record of exceeding goals and a bottom-line orientation; evidence of consistently making good decisions through a combination of analysis, experience and judgment
  • High level of business acumen, including successful commercial management
  • Ability to think strategically, anticipate future trends and potential pitfalls
  • Excel at managing and leading bright and ambitious people; a collaborative team builder who is able to instill accountability and empower people to succeed
  • Robust knowledge of finance, operational/information systems, HR
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to problem solve, project manage and multi-task; will take charge of a situation and act
  • Undergraduate (Bachelors) degree or higher
  • Integrity, humility, passion/self-drive/initiative – and a sense of humor!

  • Basic salary dependent on experience
