Supporting Children and Adolescents
Mission:
Each year, the KinderschutzaAmbulanz at the Evangelisches Krankenhaus Düsseldorf examines and cares for 250 to 350 children who have suffered from physical, psychological, or sexual abuse. Helping these vulnerable children, not only providing them with medical care but also restoring their trust in adults, is a task that requires a lot of time and patience. The KinderschutzaAmbulanz offers baby and toddler consultation hours, counseling for families who have experienced or are threatened by violence, as well as trauma therapy for children and adolescents. Aftercare for families is also financed by donations.
Why It Matters:
Frighteningly, assaults and violence against children within the family is a statistic that is increasing quickly. Children and young people need protection and, in the tragic circumstances, access to the best treatment, care, and support if they have experienced violence or sexual assault. TEAM LEWIS believes that this important service should not, and must not, fail due to lack of resources.
Kinderschutzambulanz
TEAM LEWIS supports the KinderschutzaAmbulanz through its Causes program and recognizes the blessing this organization is to victims and their families — empowering them to prevent future violence and to live a normal life as much as they can. All this is only a possibility through the counseling of children, adolescents, parents, and relatives. For this purpose, the Child Protection Outpatient Clinic cooperates with child and adolescent medical and psychiatric practices, youth welfare offices, counseling centers, and educational institutions.
