Working Towards A Future Free From Abuse

Mission:

Solace Women’s Aid exists to end the harm that is done through Violence Against Women and Girls. To create futures free from abuse. Their aim is to work to prevent violence and abuse as well as providing services to meet the needs of survivors, particularly women and girls. Their work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from submission and pain.

Solace runs 22 refuges with 178 rooms for women and children and has provided 920 women & children with refuge accommodation and supported accommodation. Through their work, Solace has helped to make 27,414 women and children feel safer and more protected. But it shouldn’t stop there.

Why It Matters:

To women and children who feel unsafe in their own home, 2020 was not a good year. The privacy of domestic violence made it easier for abusers to hide their conduct. It made it even harder for victims to get help, especially during a time where ‘staying home’ was a universal obligation.

Waking up fearful for your life, is very different from waking up on the wrong side of the bed. LEWIS wants to use its voice to help speak for those who are too afraid to break their silence. That’s why we are so honoured to support Solace Women’s Aid in developing a community wide response to Violence Against Women and Girls whilst also empowering diverse and anti-discriminatory in all its forms.
