No one goes hungry.
Founded in 2013, the Southend Foodbank believes that no one in their community should have to face going hungry. That’s why they provide three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. Based in Essex, they are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK. As a network, they want to see more people helped out of crisis and fewer people needing foodbanks in the future. That’s why The Trussell Trust and local foodbanks are working together to develop new ways to help people out of crisis through programs like More Than Food.
Why It Matters
Times are tough for everyone, and more people than ever need help from Foodbanks. Being without the means to purchase food can affect anyone. People can find themselves in these situations due to losing their home, losing their job, illness, having to care for a family member, and many other reasons. No one should have to go without the basic necessity of food. For the people of Southend-on-Sea, the Foodbank offers vital support, particularly during these trying times. LEWIS is proud to support the Southend Foodbank through its causes program.
