Facebook announces series of features and updates in F8 The two-day event has showcased many developments in the social channel from Messenger as a platform, real-time comments systems, embedded videos and supporting spherical 3D videos within the newsfeed.

Launch of virtual reality experiences Using it’s purchase of Oculus Rift, Facebook could achieve a more immersive social experience on the platform. Events such as your child’s first bike ride can be shared with users, enabling them to feel as if they are taking part.


Periscope vs. Meerkat Twitter’s latest acquisition in Periscope faces fierce competition from another real-time streaming application, Meerkat. After huge buzz on the back of SXSW, the two apps are going head to head and being widely discussed.

New partnership with Foursquare
Twitter’s latest partnership with the location-based channel now allows users to get specific with geo-tagging. The new drop-down menu of nearby locations comes from the database of  ‘check-ins’ on Foursquare.


YouTube Live takes on Twitch
Reports have speculated that YouTube Live is gearing up to take on game streaming company Twitch. Rumours suggest further information and an official launch could happen during June’s E3 gaming convention.
