📉 The Great Engagement Dip of 2025
If you felt like your posts were shouting into a void last year, you weren’t imagining it. A new report from Buffer reveals that Instagram, LinkedIn, and Threads all saw significant engagement declines throughout 2025. While competition is at an all-time high, there is a silver lining: accounts that actually reply to comments see a massive boost, up to 42% on Threads and 30% on LinkedIn. The lesson? Don’t just post and ghost; conversation is the new currency.

⚠️ Security Alert: Russian Hackers Targeting WhatsApp & Signal
Dutch intelligence services (AIVD and MIVD) have issued a serious warning: Russian state hackers are targeting the WhatsApp and Signal accounts of government officials, military personnel, and diplomats. By using social engineering and “fake” support bots, they attempt to steal verification codes to hijack accounts. It’s a stark reminder that even encrypted apps aren’t safe if you fall for a phishing trick, stay alert for “double” members in your group chats!

🦋 A New Chapter for Bluesky
Major leadership changes are afoot at the “social butterfly.” Jay Graber is stepping down as CEO of Bluesky to take on a new role as Chief Innovation Officer, focusing back on building the open protocol. Filling the gap as interim CEO is Toni Schneider, former CEO of Automattic (the powerhouse behind WordPress). With over 40 million users now on the platform, Bluesky is moving from its “startup” phase into a serious contender for the future of decentralized social media.

🕶️ Meta’s AI Glasses Under Fire
Meta’s stylish smart glasses are facing a PR nightmare. Investigations in the UK and US have been launched following reports that contractors in Kenya were reviewing highly intimate footage captured by the glasses, including private bathroom visits and sensitive financial info like credit cards. While Meta says human review is necessary to train the AI, a new class-action lawsuit argues that “built for privacy” shouldn’t mean “viewed by strangers”.

🖌️ Adobe Photoshop Gets an “Agentic” AI Sidekick
Adobe is taking AI beyond simple filters with the launch of its agentic AI assistant in beta for Photoshop. This isn’t just a chatbot; it can automate repetitive tasks like renaming all your layers based on content or editing thousands of images at once. It’s designed to handle the “boring” work so creators can stay in the creative flow, even integrating partner models like Google Gemini for more precise results.
