👍 Meta Sunsets External ‘Like’ and ‘Comment’ Buttons

The end of an era is coming: Meta has announced it will discontinue the Facebook Like and Comment buttons embedded on external, third-party websites. This change is part of a plan to modernize and simplify developer tools. Starting February 10, 2026, the plugins will “gracefully degrade,” rendering as invisible 0x0 pixel elements instead of causing website errors. This update does not affect the Like button within the Facebook platform itself.

🗓️ LinkedIn Boosts Event Management with New Integrations

With a 24% increase in events shared on the app last quarter, LinkedIn is rolling out new tools to help marketers. The platform is adding integrations with webinar host ON24 and event platform Cvent. The ON24 integration allows users to manage and create LinkedIn Events directly from the ON24 platform. The Cvent integration lets marketers sync registration lists into LinkedIn’s Campaign Manager to create audience segments for retargeting. LinkedIn is also adding “lead generation” as a campaign objective for Event Ads.

📈 Instagram Hits 3 Billion Monthly Active Users

Instagram has officially joined its siblings, Facebook and WhatsApp, in the 3-billion-user club. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the historic milestone, which marks a rapid climb from the 2 billion users reported in October 2022. The platform, which Meta acquired for $1 billion in 2012, is now one of the largest in the world, bigger than the populations of India, China, and the U.S. combined. The article does note, however, that the definition of a “monthly active user” can be broad.

🎨 Snapchat Brings Back 2D Bitmoji for Subscribers

After thousands of users petitioned for its return, Snapchat is bringing back its classic 2D avatar style. Following the platform’s 2023 switch to 3D avatars, many users felt nostalgic for the original look. The new “Comic Bitmoji” option will be available exclusively for paying Snapchat+ subscribers. It acts as a “filter” for your avatar, re-rendering it in the 2D comic-inspired style across the app, including in stickers, while keeping the customization of the 3D infrastructure.

📣 YouTube Adds ‘Hype Posts’ and Member-Only Filters

YouTube is giving creators new ways to engage their communities. First, the platform is expanding its “Hype” program, which allows viewers to promote rising creators. Now, users who “Hype” a video can also share that content in a separate public post on their own channel, amplifying the original video even further. YouTube is also adding new “Members only” and “Public” filters to channel pages, making it easier for paying subscribers to find the exclusive content they’ve paid for.
