Welcome back, digital enthusiasts, to your weekly dose of all things social! This week is quite a special one, as our Dutch King and Queen are currently visiting the USA. 🇺🇸👑 While following their royal tour, I was reminded of a major missed opportunity on my end: I really wanted to win that beautiful Picasso painting, but I completely forgot to buy a ticket! To make matters worse, a lucky French guy just beat me to it and won the €1 million masterpiece with a lottery ticket of less than 100 euros. Oh well, next time! While I mourn my lost Picasso, the digital world keeps moving fast. This week, we have exciting updates from Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, some new features from Google’s Gemini, and a digital reality check for parents. So pour yourself a tasty drink, treat yourself to something sweet, and explore the latest social stories, curated just for you. Here we go, yo! ⏬

✏️ Instagram Finally Adds Comment Editing

We’ve all been there: you post a comment, spot a glaring typo immediately, and have to awkwardly delete and repost it. Well, no more! Instagram has finally added comment editing. Users now have a 15-minute window after posting to revise their text. Edited comments will display a small “Edited” label to maintain transparency without showing a full version history. Keep in mind that only the text can be edited, not any image elements. This is a massive quality-of-life update that gives brands and community managers a much cleaner way to fix quick mistakes in their threads.

🛡️ TikTok Releases First EU Hate Speech Transparency Report

TikTok has officially published its very first transparency report under the new EU Code of Conduct on Countering Illegal Hate Speech Online. The platform has been busy: the report shows that an impressive 88.7% of the content reported to TikTok was reviewed within 24 hours. Even more impressively, in the last quarter of 2025, 96.3% of the content removed globally for breaking hate speech rules was taken down by their automated systems and safety teams before anyone even reported it.

🔔 Reddit Expands “Reminder Ads” Globally

Want to make sure your audience doesn’t miss your next big product launch or event? Reddit has officially expanded its Reminder Ads to all advertisers globally. These interactive ads feature a “Remind Me” call-to-action button. When a user taps it, they opt into receiving two push notifications: one 24 hours before your event, and another exactly when it goes live. With Reddit’s highly engaged communities, this is a fantastic way for brands to drive direct response and build anticipation ahead of key promotions.

📱 Parents Struggle to Put Down Their Phones

It’s not just the kids who are glued to screens. A new Dutch study highlights that parents (guilty) of young children are seriously struggling to put their own phones away. In fact, one in three parents frequently checks their phone while in the presence of their children. Experts warn that this “technoference” affects the parent-child relationship and suggest that parents should be advised much earlier, ideally right after childbirth, about their crucial role model status. A healthy reality check for all of us trying to balance our digital and offline lives!

🧠 Gemini “Personal Intelligence” Rolls Out Globally (Mostly)

Google is making its AI even smarter by rolling out “Personal Intelligence” for Gemini users in more regions. This feature allows Gemini to pull personalized context directly from your Gmail, Google Photos, Search, and YouTube watch history to give you highly tailored responses and recommendations (like finding the perfect bag to match the shoes you just bought). The global rollout is exciting, but there’s a catch for us: it is currently excluding the UK, Switzerland, and the European Economic Area due to our strict privacy regulations.
