🎃 Instagram Gets Spooky with New ‘Edits’ Updates

Instagram is getting into the Halloween spirit by updating its ‘Edits’ video app with a range of seasonal features. Creators can now use new Halloween-themed fonts, “horror-movie-inspired” restyle effects, and scary sound effects like “Bubbling Cauldron”. In less spooky news, the app is also rolling out improved voiceover recording options, making it easier to re-record clips and use a countdown timer for perfect timing.

💡 LinkedIn Accidentally Reveals Its Algorithm Secrets

A LinkedIn user (Charlie Hills) shared a detailed response from LinkedIn Support that essentially explains how the platform’s algorithm works. The six key factors are: Relevance (scoring posts on quality), Viewer Tolerance (if users skip your posts, they’ll see fewer of them), Freshness (new content is prioritized), Frequency (posting too much or too little hurts reach), and avoiding Duplicate Content. This is a must-read for anyone trying to crack the code.

🤖 YouTube Arms Creators Against AI Deepfakes

YouTube has started rolling out a new “likeness detection tool” to help creators combat unauthorized deepfakes. Initially available to over 5,000 partners, the tool (found in YouTube Studio) allows creators to find AI-generated videos that misuse their face or likeness and then file for removal. To use it, creators must first opt-in and verify their identity with a photo ID and a selfie video.

Facebook’s New AI Wants to Be Your Creative Assistant

Facebook has launched a new, opt-in AI feature in the U.S. and Canada that scans your phone’s camera roll to find “hidden gems”. It then privately suggests creative edits, stylized collages, and enhanced photos for you to share. Meta emphasizes that your camera roll content is not used to train its AI models unless you specifically choose to edit or share the AI-generated suggestion.
