LEWIS Australia has recently been on a whirlwind journey the past 12 months. The team proudly announced a record year of growth and more recently, we opened our second office in Australia. Our Melbourne team has been kitted out in a funky workspace in a prime location (South Yarra), that encourages chance encounters and radiates creative energy. Now, it’s team Sydney’s turn.

For the last 12 years, LEWIS Australia visitors would have found themselves in North Sydney, in a comfortable, open, yet modest space. We’re excited to have upgraded to a bigger space, in the centre of Sydney’s CBD, complete with improved areas for collaboration to better accommodate our growing business. The planning and anticipation around this move have been tremendous. This got me thinking, in an age of flexible and remote working, what’s the role of the office environment in contributing to office culture?

Company culture is critical to business operations. It impacts everything from recruitment, to overall employee satisfaction. This in turn contributes to productivity and company success. As such, a positive work culture should foster a sense of belonging and accountability, whilst encouraging healthy work-life balance, and promoting open collaboration across the business. Here at LEWIS, we are advocates of workplace culture – we’ve even been recognised for our Excellence in Workplace Culture at the recent HR Excellence Awards.

With that in mind, there can be no denying that the general design of an office plays a major role in supporting creativity, productivity, and collaboration. In my opinion, we all work better in spaces that promote physical well-being and social interaction. But it’s a balance.

Our new office space is poised to meet the demands of our growing, and lively team by providing us with a combination of spaces. Firstly, we are all thrilled to be the owners of m.e.g.a.d.e.s.k.s. Something as simple as desk design, for example, can have a profound impact on the overall health and wellbeing of the team especially when our job requires us to sit for long periods of time.

At the same time, we are also enjoying multiple inspiring breakout spaces around the office which have become essential for brainstorming, meetings, and relaxation. These bold spaces help foster a culture of agility and inquisitiveness, and are proving to be extremely valuable.

It’s safe to say that our new office really raises the bar on design, innovation, and collaboration – embodying many of the values that makes LEWIS who we are.

As of today, we’re located at Suite 9.01, Level 9, 68 Pitt Street, Sydney 2000. If you happen to be around the area or in Sydney, swing by and we’ll give you a grand tour of our new office!
