Social Media, Social Media Marketing

It’s been a big week in social, Meta’s making ads smarter (and sneaking them into your notifications), Buffer says longer TikTok videos are actually better, and LinkedIn is now helping you lock in meetings without 14 emails back and forth. Meanwhile, Instagram is testing AI-generated comments, and Meta’s keeping its fact-checking boots on in Australia (even if it’s offloading them in the U.S.).

Let’s get into it! ⏬

Meta Wants to Supercharge Retail Ads

Meta’s latest batch of retail ad updates is all about driving better results, both online and in-store. Think live inventory ads, smarter catalog creative, and yes, even ad placements in Facebook notifications.

New features include promo ads that collect emails, updates to Shops Ads with simplified checkout (being tested in Australia), and Instagram ads with multiple site links. One test even saw a 39% spike in landing page views.

📅 LinkedIn x Calendly = More Bookings, Less Hassle

LinkedIn has integrated Calendly directly into profiles, posts, and messages, letting Premium users make it easier than ever to book meetings.

One power user said he’s locked in over 200 meetings since adding the link, so if you’re looking to cut the scheduling chaos, it’s worth adding. 👉 Read More

⏱️ Longer TikToks Are Beating the Short Stuff

Buffer analysed 1.1 million TikToks and found longer videos (over 60 seconds) are delivering better results—43% more reach and 64% more watch time compared to mid-length vids.

So while 30–60 seconds still works, stretching your content (when it’s good) is more than worth it. Just make sure to nail the hook early and keep things moving. 👉 Read More

🗳️ Meta Keeps Fact-Checking in Australia

With a federal election coming up in May, Meta’s sticking with third-party fact-checkers in Australia, despite recently replacing that model in the U.S. with a Community Notes-style system.

Expect warning labels, reduced reach for dodgy posts, and a media literacy campaign aimed at helping voters spot misleading content. 👉 Read More

💬 Instagram Tests AI-Generated Comments

Instagram is experimenting with AI-suggested replies to posts—just tap the ✏️⭐ icon and get a list of auto-comments to choose from.

It’s a move designed to make engagement easier, with Meta also testing personalised bots that match your tone and style. 👉 Read More

🔥 Quick Tip of the Week

Turn profile views into real conversations.

If you’re on LinkedIn Premium, don’t just add a “Visit Website” button. Drop your Calendly link in a custom button and make it easy for people to book a meeting instantly. Whether you’re chasing new leads or trying to lock in time with a recruiter, this little tweak can save you a whole lot of calendar chaos.
