Supporting young people in mourning
The Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation is a nationwide contact point for bereaved youths. In addition to adults up to the age of 49 whose partner has died, the individual support services are also aimed at children, adolescents and young adults up to the age of 27 who have lost one or both parents. The foundation offers support through various means including telephone or personal grief counselling, mourning groups as well as joint leisure activities in which the focus is on play, movement and creativity.
Why it matters
Dealing with grief can be very different for each person – that is why children, youths and adults need individual help to deal with their loss. It is especially important for young people to realize that they are allowed to grieve in their own way. The Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation not only provides valuable educational work in this area but also supports children and youths with various offers to help them with the best possible accompaniment through the stages of mourning. Additionally, those affected can also exchange their experiences and feelings with people of the same age who are in a similar situation.
Organizations like the Nicolaidis YoungWings Foundation help children and young adults dealing with their grief and offering them a safe space to think, talk and heal.
