Five finalists have been announced for the Suzy Spirit Award 2019. Now in its sixth year, the annual award is part of the PRmoment awards line-up. The winner will be announced at the London awards ceremony on April 4 at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge.

The award was originally launched in 2013 in honour of Suzy Ferguson, an employee at LEWIS who sadly passed away from bowel cancer. In memory of Suzy, the award seeks to recognise the unsung heroes working in the PR and Communications industry. It looks to honour individuals of exceptional character who set a shining example through mentoring and championing others, inside and outside of work, and who others perceive to be inspirational.

As part of the award, a donation is made to Bowel Cancer UK, supporting vital research and lifesaving work to stop bowel cancer.

Judges and organisers of the award would like to thank all those who submitted nominations, and were sincerely moved by the inspirational and compassionate responses.

The finalists for the 2019 Suzy Spirit Award are:

  • Addy Frederick, Prudential
  • Billie Dee Gianfrancesco, Vardags
  • Kayte Burns, NEP UK
  • Kev O’Sullivan, FleishmanHillard Fishburn
  • Sarah Hall, Sarah Hall Consulting

“Every year the quality and calibre of the entries improves, and the judges continue to be impressed and inspired by the personal commitment shown by so many in the PR and communications industry,” said Sally O’Neill, VP International at LEWIS and one of the judges. “Once again we had entries from all over the UK, in-house and agency, and from those early on in their career to people with many years of experience. As well as being successful at work, our shortlisted finalists also go the extra mile to mentor others and support important initiatives including diversity, mental health and women in technology in their own time. This mix of skills and personality truly reflects the ‘Suzy spirit’ we are looking for.”

Last year’s winner was Andy Garner, who was nominated by his CEO, Frankie Cory, from Mischief PR for fostering a creative culture throughout the agency. He said, “It was an unbelievable feeling to win this award. Suzy’s passion for work and life touched so many, and I endeavour to continue inspiring others to achieve great things.”
